Are we born kind or is it a skill that we grow and develop throughout our life? The answer is a little bit of both. Children are essentially born as a blank page with no malice but a little bud of kindness that needs care and love to grow along with them.
Parents have many responsibilities when it comes to their children, but a very important one that is sometimes missed is teaching them how to be kind. It might occur to us that children are born kind, if we just leave them be then they’ll stay that way. But it’s not that simple.
Kindness and in relation, tolerance and acceptance of others, are skills that parents must help their children to develop from an early age. A child who observes and learns kindness will grow up to be a tolerant and accepting adult. One who knows how to respect and love others for their differences and not despite them.
How can we teach our children to be kind? What are the practical steps we can take to make sure our children have tolerance and acceptance in their hearts? This is what we are going to try and help you with. There are countless ways to teach children about kindness, but we’ve collected a few of our favourites and we will share them with you below.
