Over the last year, we published a number of motivational quotes on our social media channels. Some of them were from celebrities who advocate for disability awareness and rights while others were from public figures who have been challenged for thinking and behaving differently. However, our favourite quotes have to be those who were coined by actually autistic people and here are seven of them for you to enjoy.
“I want people like me to see that they shouldn’t let a disability get in the way. I want to raise awareness – I want to turn my disability into ability.” – Susan Boyle

“I feel like I am insightful about people, because I spent my whole life observing them and wondering how I could be more like them.” – Alis Rowe

“It’s important that we remember that it’s our differences that give us our unique personalities. The world would be a grey and dull place if it wasn’t for those eccentricities and idiosyncrasies.” – Dean Beadle

“I have Asperger’s and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And — given the right circumstances — being different is a superpower.” – Greta Thunberg

“Humanity has prospered because of people with autistic traits. Without them, we wouldn’t have put man on the Moon or be running software programs.” – Chris Packham

“The world needs all types of minds.” – Temple Grandin

And our last quote is from the one and only Alan Turing. Although he was not officially diagnosed as autistic during his lifetime, it is a widely circulated theory.
“Sometimes it is the people no one can imagine anything of who do the things no one can imagine.” – Alan Turing
